Laurie Richards has been a dedicated member of the Indiana University South Bend community since 2005. She began her career as a Student Records Specialist and was promoted to Manager of the Advising Center in 2015. She now serves as a Student Services Coordinator and School Recorder for the Vera Z. Dwyer School of Health Sciences.
Throughout her career at IU South Bend, Laurie has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence, service, and the success of students, faculty, and colleagues. Her dedication and outstanding performance were recognized when she received the WOW Award in October 2010. The award is presented to a bi-weekly employee who demonstrates exceptional dedication and outstanding performance at IU South Bend.
In 2018, Laurie received the Chancellor’s Employee Service Award, recognizing her excellence in overall work performance, her positive and supportive attitude, and her commitment to providing service to others. She was also recognized for her initiative and creativity, her dedication to professional growth, and her efforts to develop and recognize others. Her work has contributed to improving operating efficiency within her department and across the University.
Laurie’s commitment to IU South Bend continued to be recognized in 2024 when she received the Outstanding Staff Award for the Vera Z. Dwyer School of Health Sciences. In 2025, she was named one of IU South Bend’s Top 25 Titans. Top 25 Titan award recipients are recognized for going above and beyond their normal responsibilities, improving processes and efficiencies, initiating creative and innovative ideas that advance the University’s mission, and making a significant impact on student success.
With more than two decades of service to IU South Bend, Laurie brings extensive institutional knowledge, dedication, and a genuine passion for helping others to her work. She is known for her supportive approach, willingness to assist others, and commitment to creating a positive experience for students, faculty, and staff.
Outside of IU South Bend, Laurie is married to a career Mishawaka firefighter and is the proud mother of three children and grandmother of two. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, building Lego and is a devoted Chicago Cubs fan.
