Dr. Wendi Buckley, OTD, MS, OTR, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at IU South Bend. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Gerontology, a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, and a Post-Professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Her clinical background spans acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, home health, and school-based settings, with particular depth of experience in school-based practice, assistive technology, and working with children with autism.
Within the IU South Bend Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program, Dr. Buckley teaches conditions, pediatrics, health and wellness, evidence-based practice, professionalism, and assistive technology. Her teaching emphasizes problem-based learning and authentic, hands-on experiences that connect classroom knowledge with professional practice.
Her scholarship focuses on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), particularly student professional development; occupational therapy consultation in therapeutic riding programs; and interprofessional education focused on collaborative reasoning and decision-making.
Dr. Buckley’s commitment to inclusive, community-engaged practice extends beyond the university. In 2026, she received the Kelsey Meekhof Legacy Award from Reins of Life in recognition of her partnership with the organization and commitment to advancing inclusion, empowering others, and celebrating the abilities of all. She continues to practice clinically in acute and inpatient adult rehabilitation settings and is the founder of a nature-based business offering summer camp experiences for children with disabilities.
